IT WAS one of the area’s biggest street parties and organisers spent years planning it.
And the event in Highfield Avenue, Waterlooville, has been hailed a magnificent success.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was celebrated by 2,500 people on Monday night and they danced the evening away to the sounds of the Abba Sensation tribute group, singer Paul Kaye and music by the Blendworth Brass Band.
Nick Keys, of the Highfield Avenue Millennium Society, which organised the event, said: ‘It was a magnificent success. ‘We’ve had so many positive comments and letters. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was well worth all the effort.’
