THERE were plenty of wagging tails and even a few singing hounds at a dog show in Portsmouth yesterday.
Scores of dog-lovers visited Bransbury Park for the annual event, which includes some tongue-in-cheek classes such as best ankle-biter and waggiest tail.
Colin Johnson, 23, of Wadham Road, North End, brought along his two Siberian huskies, Princess and Spirit, and his Alaskan Malamute, Simba.
He was jumping for joy as Princess won the Best Rescue dog category.
He said: ‘It’s brilliant. We’ve come three years in a row and we always enter the competitions.
‘It’s a fun thing for dog owners to come to.’
Mel Phillips, 19, of Pleasant Road, Milton, said she enjoyed watching the dog talent show. She took Basil, a Welsh terrier cross, who had been locked in a shed before being rescued five years ago.
Proceeds from the day will go to Fratton-based charity Four Paws Complete Care, which gives young people and vulnerable adults the chance to work with animals.
