PLANS to build a permanent travellers’ settlement have been refused.

The government’s planning inspector refused a proposals to build three pitches for mobiles home at Oak Tree Farm, on land between Waterlooville and Denmead, off Hambledon Road.

Last year residents’ mounted a petition to stop the plan.

Winchester City Council refused the application, but the applicant appealed to the planning inspector. A similar plan was put forward for land behind the Chairmakers pub, on the outskirts of Denmead, but nothing further happened.
