TRIBUTES have been paid to a former long-serving councillor who has died aged 78.

Diana Harrison served as a Fareham borough councillor for the Conservative group for 18 years.

She initially represented Titchfield from 1980 to 1987, but returned after a 12-year gap to represent Fareham West from 1999 to 2010.

She retired in 2010 due to ill health.

During her time with the council she was chairwoman of the licensing and regulatory affairs committee and was also a member of the standards committee, the performance and improvement review panel and deputy member of the audit committee.

Council leader, Cllr Sean Woodward, said: ‘Di was a wonderful, dedicated councillor as well as a friend who served the residents of Fareham with dedication and care for 18 years.

‘She will be deeply missed and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this sad time.’
