MORE than 1,300 youngsters with special needs enjoyed a free trip to Paultons Park for this year’s Rotary KidsOut Day.

The annual event saw the children, including groups from two Fareham schools, descend on the family theme park with their carers and teachers for a fun-filled day of rides and attractions.

Some Rotarians dressed as clowns especially for the occasion, some supported the groups around the park while others did their bit by serving up more than 2,000 packed lunches.

Mayor of Fareham Cllr Susan Bayford and consort Cllr Brian Bayford, pictured with children, attended the send-off and assisted the school staff and Rotarians in getting the children aboard their transport.

President of the Fareham Rotary Club Duncan Colin-Jones said: ‘We have, jointly with Locks Heath Club, been planning this for some while.

‘Seeing them all having so much fun makes our work most worthwhile.’
