The award-winning choir called Habeas Chorus was made up of 24 professionals from trainees to partners.

The accompaniment was provided by probate lawyer and organist Jacquie Harry.

Choir member Mary Chant, a corporate and commercial partner at Blake Morgan which has offices in Portsmouth, said: ‘We wanted to put on a good performance to wish everyone a happy Christmas and always enjoy singing in the beautiful surroundings of Portsmouth Cathedral.

‘The choir is all about enthusiasm and a love of music, and includes singers like me – who just used to sing in the shower – to keen amateurs who perform in musical theatre productions.’

Guests were served mulled wine and mince pies too.
