PLANS to upgrade a village skate park will go on show at a public consultation.

Swanmore Parish Council has a draft plan for the new skate park in New Road and it will showcase this design at an event on Wednesday, November 1.

Parishioners and skate park users are invited to give their views on the design, which will see a modern concrete design replace the current metal version, at the event in the council offices, Hollythorns House, New Road, between 6pm and 7pm.

Councillor Pete Ansty, chairman of the New Road Playing Field Committee, said: ‘To ensure the
requirements of Swanmore residents are reflected in the final design we are liaising with existing skate park users, so the redevelopment meets expectations, and there will be an opportunity for parishioners to view the proposed design and provide feedback.’

The upgrade is part of a £300,000 plan to improve the New Road playing field that will see a four-lane 100m running track and a jogging track put in, as well as, subject to funds, a car park extension and the installation of a toilet block.
