THE Walking for Health initiative in Havant is looking for enthusiastic people to come forward and train as volunteer walk leaders.

The next free training day will take place on Thursday between 10am and 4pm at the Public Service Plaza in Civic Centre Road.

Lunch and refreshments are provided as part of the event.

Walking for Health is hosted by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer and is a national scheme with over 10,000 volunteers.

Havant Borough Council supports the scheme, which aims to improve people’s health and wellbeing through regular walks led by trained volunteers.

Walking for Health co-ordinator Louise Christie said: ‘We offer this one-day fun and informal training day for free and it will provide you with information on how to lead walks safely.
