A GIANT hockey ball is heading towards Portsmouth.

The eight-foot ball will be dribbled into Guildhall Square tomorrow morning having been pushed all the way from Edinburgh. It’s part of a record-breaking attempt to roll it 1,250 miles across the UK.

It will finish up in Trafalgar Square in London on May 2.

It arrives in the city at 9.30am and there will be free hockey-related activities and the public can write good luck messages to the GB Hockey squad on the inflatable ball ahead of the Olympic Games.

The event supports Wellchild, which provides nurses to seriously ill children so they can be cared for at home.
