Waterlooville's popular pancake race returns next week - and there's still time to sign up

A WACKY pancake event will make its return in a week’s time and organisers have vowed to make it ‘batter than ever’.

The 2020 Waterlooville Pancake Race will speed up the precinct in aid of charity at 11am on Tuesday, February 25.

Cheering shoppers flock to watch the spectacle every year as racers from local firms compete in heats leading up to a grand finale.

Whoever wins that is crowned the year’s champion – taking away £200 to donate to a charity of their choice.

Organisers, The Co-operative Funeralcare Waterlooville, said there are still spaces for businesses to enrol in next week’s race roster.

Funeral co-ordinator Ali Davison said: ‘We are partnering up again with The Waterlooville Events Team to put on the event which we hope will be batter than ever.

‘Everyone always has a great time and we get to promote our lovely town centre at the same time.

‘The race is done in teams and past events have seen racers dressed up in some very imaginative fancy dress – although this isn't mandatory.

‘We can't wait to see what this year brings.’

George Cartmell, Paul Traill and Alan Caceres of Phone Repair Doctor won the race last year and gave their cash to the Rowans Hospice.
