When Doctor Who came to Gosport '“Â and will the town feature in Sunday's opening episode?
The new series of Doctor Who is set to start on BBC this weekend and our area is set to feature in one of the episodes.Â
Jodie Whittaker has taken over the lead role in the show becoming the thirteenth incarnation of The Doctor '“ and the first woman to play the role.Â
And the new episodes will begin on BBC on Saturday, October 7 - just over a week from now.Â
But during the filming of Doctor Who series 11, Jodie Whittaker and new companion Bradley Walsh were spotted in Gosport earlier this year.Â
BBC film crews arrived in Little Woodham '“ a village styled on the 17th century '“ in February.Â
Doctor Who filmed in the village from for three days between February 21 and February 23 this year.Â
And fans took the opportunity to snap pictures with the thirteenth Doctor whilst she was in the area.Â
Here's what you said at the time
Lewis Jeffries, a 20-year-old who studies film industries and creative writing, said: '˜I was quite bored in one of my lectures when I was scrolling through Twitter and saw film crews were in the area.
'˜I decided to make the journey over to Gosport in the afternoon, and by a stroke of luck, I managed to watch it all unfold.
'˜I was with another person and Jodie actually saw us and gave us a wave '“ it was a once-in-a lifetime opportunity.'
Just one day later, life-long Whovian Steve Vernon made the short journey from his Gosport home to a vantage point just yards away from the BBC set.
It was from here he managed to capture crisp photographs of the cast and crew.
The 52-year-old, who works for Scottish and Southern Energy, said: '˜I managed to find a great little side road around Little Woodham, which turned out to be extremely close to where they were filming '“ I couldn't believe my luck.
'˜I'm a massive fan of the show and I've followed each and every incarnation of the Doctor.
'˜This is the sort of thing that puts Gosport on the map and it makes me proud to live here.'
When will the Gosport scenes be featured?Â
The scenes filmed in Little Woodham don't appear likely to be used in the first episode of the series airing on October 7 '“Â as critics who have seen the episode reported that it is set in Sheffield.Â
And in the official trailer for the series, the Gosport scenes do not appear to feature '“ with no 17th century style villages appearing in the brief footage shown.Â
So far only two episode titles for the season have been revealed '“ The Woman Who Fell to Earth and The Ghost Monument '“ the first two episodes (respectively).Â
Doctor Who will air for 10 weeks between October 7 and December 9 '“Â as well as a Christmas Special on December 25.Â
