Wickham prepares for annual horse fair

THOUSANDS of people are expected to arrive in Wickham tonight for tomorrow's annual horse fair.

The festival dates back 800 years and is a stable of the travelling community’s yearly diary as the Hampshire village is transformed into a spectacular equine feast for the eyes.

Motorists have been warned by police of road closures and potential delays during today with the main events all kicking off in the Square from 4.30am tomorrow morning up until 8pm this evening.

The A334 Winchester Road will be closed between the traffic signals at Blind Lane and the A32 roundabout junction.

Guests and spectators are told to park at the nearside lane of the A32 southbound at Hoads Hill from Junction A334 to the top of the hill.
