RESIDENTS got some top tips on how to stay warm this winter.

The Big Winter Warm-Up event at Portsmouth Guildhall was supported by Scottish and Southern Energy and was packed with lots of advice and information on keeping warm and safe in the winter months.

There were free health checks, tips on how to keep your home warm but still save energy costs, advice on keeping mobile and driving safely in wintry conditions.

There was also information on weather warnings and what they mean as well as cookery demos and tasters with winter recipes.

Lunch, refreshments, prize bingo and an emergency grab bag were all provided free of charge.

The Pompey Pluckers were there to provide the music.
