A FESTIVAL of Winter Walks through stunning countryside is just round the corner.

The Ramblers’ Association begins its annual national winter walking season on Christmas Eve.

The South East Group covers an area from Hambledon in the west to Emsworth in the east and from Waterlooville to Petersfield in the north.

On December 27, the group will meet at Walderton, in the layby just off B2146. It is an easy to moderate walk of six to seven miles.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park car park will be the meeting point for the walk on December 28 at 10am. It will take in Chalton and Buriton.

The walk on December 29 starts at Horndean fire station and takes in Chalton during the six- mile hike.

There will be a coffee stop. Owen Plunkett, from The Ramblers, said: ‘This is an opportunity for people to enjoy our countryside and to improve their health at the same time.

‘We always make members of the public very welcome.’
