A GOSPORT pupil was highly commended for her cooking skills by a celebrity TV chef.

Phillippa Crofts, a Year 11 pupil at Bay House School, in Gomer Lane, impressed Saturday Kitchen’s James Martin at the regional final of the Make it with Mince competition in Bristol.

In just one hour, Phillippa prepared, cooked and presented her original recipe for Bolognese Tart to the chef.

As previously reported in The News, Phillippa beat hundreds of 11 to 16 year-old pupils across the region to get to the final, including fellow classmates at Bay House School.

The TV chef congratulated Phillippa’s work and said: ‘I hope that Philippa’s success will encourage more young people from the local area to get cooking and try out new and different recipes.’
