A YOUTH orchestra is calling for new members following a fundraiser.

The Elson Youth Orchestra performed at the Gosport Methodist Church, raising £590 for the EYO and the Church roof repair fund.

Elson Junior School headteacher Celia Rich said: ‘It was a truly remarkable evening.’

The orchestra, led by musical director Richard Boland, features woodwind, strings, and percussion instruments.

They are now preparing for their next concert at the HMS Sultan Summer Show on Saturday, June 20.

The orchestra meets on Friday evenings during term-time and is open to all students of junior school age and older who attend music lessons and can provide their own instruments.

The EYO was established in 2010.

It is keen to enrol new members, and those interested can contact Elson Junior School, Gosport, via email at or by phone on (023) 9258 3754.
