Youngsters fly the flag

CHILDREN at a Whiteley nursery took a look at Welsh culture for St David's Day.

The children at Kiddi Caru spent the day making Welsh flags, dragons and painting daffodils.

They learned about Welsh history, language, traditional dress and St David himself and talked about the origins of the famous Welsh dragon.

Nursery manager Kate Gracz, said: ‘St David’s Day is a wonderful festival as there are so many engaging stories and activities that are linked to this special day.

‘The children were particularly fascinated by the dragon and why it appears on the Welsh flag.

‘With lots of colourful daffodil drawings around the nursery it was almost as if St David’s Day had heralded the arrival of spring too.’
