MORE than 150 young people from across Fareham will be getting together this week for the borough’s youth conference.
Organised by Fareham’s youth council, the participants, aged 12 to 20, will include members of youth groups, schools, colleges and other organisations.
It aims to look at issues affecting young people, such as teenage pregnancy and raising aspirations, as well as encouraging young people to be active citizens.
Ferneham Hall will play host to the conference on Wednesday, backed by the borough and county councils.
Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of Fareham, and the mayor of Fareham, Councillor Brian Bayford, will also be attending. The youth champion for Fareham, Councillor Leslie Keeble said: ‘The event will give young people in the borough an opportunity to express their views and opinions through discussion, as well as have fun.’
Councillor Roy Perry, in charge of children’s services for the county, said: ‘Our staff will be ensuring that young people are able to participate and express their views in this important forum.’
