A NEW production of a classic opera is coming to the city.
Opera Comique is working with the Mary Rose Museum in putting on a performance of HMS Pinafore.
The comic opera in two acts pokes fun at the Royal Navy, patriotism, and party politics.
Formed as a charitable trust in Portsmouth in 1976 – where both Gilbert and Sullivan visited at various points during the composition – Opera Comique has performed to national and international audiences.
Its personnel are all experienced Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts drawn from a wide area of the south of England and perform together several times each year.
The performance will take place at the Mary Rose Museum on Saturday, June 13 at 7pm.
Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets can be purchased through the website at maryrose.org/hmspinafore
