VOLUNTEERS at an animal charity shop are appealing for more donations of unwanted furniture.

Staff at the PDSA shop in High Street, Gosport, are asking people who are having a summer clean-out of their homes to give their old sofas, chairs, bookcases and coffee tables to the branch.

Money raised by the shop from furniture sales goes towards helping sick and injured pets belonging to people in the area.

Store manager Carole Connelly said: ‘If you’ve recently moved house or decorated and have good quality furniture taking up space, donate your items to PDSA and help raise vital funds for poorly pets.

‘Furniture is really popular with our customers.’

The PDSA shop can collect furniture from homes for free and accepts items of all sizes.

Anyone who would like to have some furniture collected should call (023) 9252 1115.

The shop can only accept soft furniture if it has a fire warning label referring to the 1988 fire safety regulations.
