Petrol heads gather in Fareham for epilepsy car charity meet

Motor fanatics from far and wide gathered at the car park of B&M, in Newgate Lane, Fareham, to show off their vehicles.

Father Wayne Cannings, 30, put out a call to fellow petrol heads in a bid to raise money for the charity Young Epilepsy.

Wayne’s two-year-old son Rory suffers from the illness and regularly has seizures which need to be controlled with daily and emergency medication.

Wayne and his wife Crystal now fear their daughter Lacie-Louise, three, also has the condition because she recently suffered two big seizures.

He said: ‘It is a constant worry for us. Lacie is now undergoing tests.

‘It really is a horrible condition.

‘Rory is on daily medication and we have emergency medication for when he suffers seizures – which is every day.

‘We are constantly on alert because he has them in the night too.’

Dozens of modified vehicles were on display at the event, on August 20.

Wayne added: ‘It was a huge success.

‘Each vehicle paid an entrance fee and we raised just over £100.

‘I’m a big petrol head. There were some brilliant cars.

‘My favourite car was a Volkswagen Beetle which had been modified.

‘The owner had really gone to town on it, he even put a skeleton inside. It was bizarre but good fun.

‘I’d like to thank B&M for allowing us to use the car park.’

Wayne is also in training for another fundraising event.

He will be running the Great South Run next month for the same charity, Young Epilepsy.
