Phone line for power cuts

PEOPLE suffering a power cut can call a new help line.

The launch of 105 helps residents get through to their electricity network operator who can help, not their supplier.

Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has supported the introduction of the number.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I welcome the introduction of 105 and believe the service will be of great benefit to all of my constituents. Power cuts can leave people feeling confused about what to do, and 105 will help to tackle this.’

David Smith, chief executive of the Energy Networks Association, said: ‘We hope it will be welcomed by electricity customers who are often unsure about what to do in a power cut.’

The phone line is the first three-digit number approved for use by the private sector.
