MORE than 60 dog owners have signed up for a mass charity walk along Southsea seafront on Sunday – and the list is still growing.
The sponsored event, organised by the Isle of Wight’s Retired Greyhound Trust, is open to any breed and hopes to raise a much-needed cash boost for the charity to help it continue to look after greyhounds.
The event usually generates around £1,000 for the cause.
There will also be dogs at the walk which the trust is looking to rehome, including three-year-old black pup, Whitney, who is fully house-trained and used to being around children.
And if those interested in adopting one of the dogs have a home check before the walk, they could take their new pet home with them afterwards.
The six-mile trot starts at 2pm from Eastney swimming pool, and those taking part are asked to arrive at 1.45pm prompt.
Walkers will finish at Castle Fields for 3.30pm where there will be a stand with lots of information about how to adopt a greyhound. Call 01983 300332 or 07933 785696.
