A DAZZLING fireworks display brought communities from around the Havant area together.

The annual event, organised by Havant Borough Council, saw more than 1,000 people flock to Stockheath Common in Leigh Park on Saturday.

Once the traditional bonfire was lit on the common, crowds were treated to a fireworks display and a range of funfair festivities and children’s rides.

The fireworks were a hit with the people of Havant, with James Scott saying on Facebook: ‘It’s amazing every year. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.’

The council gave away light-up glowsticks and wristbands to hundreds of children.

Mayor of Havant Councillor Faith Ponsonby was among those watching the display, and said that the event was ‘a perfect night’.

She said: ‘The fireworks were absolutely fantastic.

‘There were plenty of lovely colours and it just kept on going.

‘It was a great display and I think that everyone who went along enjoyed it.’
