THOUSANDS of people went to the bandstand in Southsea to enjoy music from the 90s.

The seafront was packed with around 15,000 music fans yesterday, listening to Rhythm Of The ’90s.

Families enjoyed the sunshine and people could be seen dancing to the popular tunes.

Organiser Nick Courtney said: ‘It was the most incredible day.

‘The atmosphere was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

‘We expected to have around 10,000 people so to exceed that is fantastic.’

Nick added there were some security worries about the sheer number of people at the bandstand. But he said the security firm had no reports of any incidents.

‘People came down to enjoy the music and it is a credit to the city that no incidents happened,’ said Nick.

Leader of Portsmouth City Council Donna Jones said: ‘This was one of the biggest of these events we’ve had in the city so far.

‘There was a relaxed atmosphere with families enjoying the live music.’

The atmosphere was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
