Planned roadworks in Central Southern England: Monday 14 to Sunday 20 March 2016

Below are the planned roadworks for the area in the week ahead.

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including the junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. On Friday 18 March the closure will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25 junction 13.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. On Friday 18 March the closure will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13, the A30 and A322 to M3 junction 3.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: lighting maintenance

Work to improve road user safety on slip roads along the M3 begins this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Spitfire Link.

M4 junctions 5 to 6 Slough, Berkshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys takes place this week. Lane closures on the eastbound carriageway will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 15 March for 4 nights.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 March.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge installation

Work to improve journeys by installing the new Reading University Bridge near Shinfield continues this week. The M4 between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3270 and A329(M).

The new bridge is being installed over the M4, as part of the construction of the new Shinfield Eastern Relief Road, by HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction on behalf of the University of Reading. For further details of this scheme visit: http://www.southofm4.com

M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to maintain road user safety on slip roads along the M27 takes place this week. The junction 5 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3.

M27 junctions 7 Eastleigh to 4 Chilworth, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys takes place this week with resurfacing along the M27. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 18 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 junction 12.

A27 Eastern Road to Langstone Portsmouth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve safety on the A27 begins this week. The eastbound carriageway between Eastern Road and Langstone will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2177 and A2030.

A27 Bedhampton, Hampshire: lighting maintenance

Work to maintain safety by repairing lighting on slip roads on the A27 begins this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030.

Work to maintain road user safety through the Hindhead Tunnel takes place this week. The northbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 16 March, with road users diverted through the southbound tunnel in contraflow with a 40mph speed limit. The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 March, with road users diverted through the northbound tunnel in contraflow with a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Hampshire and Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire and Surrey takes place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed from Longmoor to Compton overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Thursday 17 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A325 and A31.

A3 Weston to Sheet, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The northbound carriageway between Weston and Sheet will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070 and A272 Sheet Link.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March until mid-April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 starts this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 15 March for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Bullington Cross.

A34 Bullington to Litchfield, Hampshire: drainage, street lighting, vegetation management, litter picking

Work to ensure road user safety by carrying out various maintenance activities along the A34 starts this week. Varied lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights.

In addition, the southbound entry slip roads at Litchfield and Bullington Cross will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next suitable junction.

A34 Litchfield to Tot Hill, Hampshire: litter picking

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will takes place this week. Lane 2 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 16 March for 3 nights.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing lighting bulbs takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 2 nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Wytham, Oxfordshire: bridge joint repair

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement near Wytham starts this week. The southbound carriageway between the A44 Peartree Interchange and the A420 Botley Interchange will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Oxford ring-road.

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageway near Micheldever finishes this week. The westbound carriageway from the M3 to the A34 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 or A33 to Winchester, and the A34.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton continues this week. The eastbound carriageway from the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction to Hundred Acre at Andover will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 2 nights.

The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 15 March until early April (Monday to Friday only).

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road.

A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: street lighting and traffic signalling
