Planned roadworks for south England from June 24

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24 June but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link road from the M3 southbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed, overnight between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 southbound to junction 3 and return. On Thursday 30 June, the diversion for M25 clockwise traffic will be via the M3 southbound to junction 3 and return, M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 27 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A322.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 5 – including the southbound Fleet Services - will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 28 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A287.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 29 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A331.

The dedicated link road from the M3 northbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed, overnight between 8pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 30 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 30 June for two nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the westbound exit slip continues this week. The westbound exit slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 June for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 7.

M27 junction 9 Park Gate, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 takes place this week. The westbound exit slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 27 June. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 8.

M27 junction 10 Wickham, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 takes place this week. The westbound exit slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 28 June. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 9 and the A27.

M271 junction 1 Southampton, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the northbound exit slip (Nursling) takes place this week. The northbound and southbound exit slips will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Saturday 2 July. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via local roads.

A3 Sheet Link, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. The eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 30 June. The Sheet link westbound from the A272 Midhurst junction roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 1 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Liss.

A3 Longmoor to Hazel Grove, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to maintain safety by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 28 June for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from Longmoor to Hogs Back via the A325 and A31.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.
