That is the news from Hampshire County Council, which has unveiled plans to transform Queen Elizabeth Country Park with a £2m investment.

Proposed improvements, which are available for the public to comment on until the end of November, include a bigger café with more seating, better car parking and improved landscaping and shelter in the courtyard.

The Forts and Fleets project, which is partly funded by £163,350 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, will add an adventure play area, dog activity course and a new community space.

Councillor Andrew Gibson, county council executive member for culture, recreation and countryside, said: ‘Visitor expectations have changed over the years, with greater competition from other sites and attractions, so it’s essential we invest now, to help them become more financially self sustaining in the future.

‘The plans for Queen Elizabeth include a lighter and brighter visitor centre with a bigger café and indoor event space, as well as various new outdoor play equipment for children and grown ups alike to enjoy.

‘We welcome visitor feedback on the plans which will be displayed at the park’s theatre until the end of the month.’

Visitors can give feedback on site until November 30.
