REVAMPING a community centre in Emsworth is the focus of a consultation.

Proposals have been outlined to renovate the Emsworth Centre in South Street.

Under the proposals, it could become a centre for health and well-being, offering a variety of courses, including cooking, gardening and exercise.

Trips and days-out for local people and a community cafe are other ideas.

Offering the elderly extra help with their shopping in Emsworth is being proposed.

The building is owned by Havant Borough Council and the proposals wish to explore the potential of transferring ownership to Community First Havant and East Hampshire.

Tim Houghton, chief executive at Community First HEH, said: ‘We’re aiming to create a vibrant place that supports and improves the health and wellbeing of the whole community with a little bit of something for everyone.

‘We want to help families with children to “start well”, we want to help people of all ages to live well, and we want to continue to help older people and those with specific health needs to age well.’
