FOUR people were arrested yesterday as part of a police crackdown – in order to raise money for charity.
The event saw arrests take place all over the city with the prisoners – Rachel Harvey, from Large & Gibson Solicitors in Southsea, Julie Hughes, the chief executive from the Elizabeth Foundation, Gavin Adams, deputy store manager of Sainsbury’s in Farlington and Pompey FC mascot Nelson the Dog – taken to the cells at Gunwharf Quays.
Each prisoner needed to raise £1,000 bail to get them out, which went to the Elizabeth Foundation, a Portsmouth centre that supports preschool deaf children and their parents.
Making the arrests were PC Dan McGarrigle and PC Dane Millerchip, whose three-year-old daughter Gracie uses the centre.
Mr Millerchip, from Knowle, said: ‘It truly is an amazing place.’
