JEWELLERY has been snatched from a home targeted by thieves in a village.

Police have issued a warning to residents in Clanfield after a burglary broke into a home in Down View Way.

The crime is reported to have happened sometime between 9.45am and 10,15am on Wednesday.

A thief entered ransacked the home, making an ‘untidy search’, police said, before fleeing with a number of valuable items of jewellery.

Officers are now appealing for any homes with private CCTV to check their footage. They are also urging people to check their home’s security.

PCSO Josephine Killick said: ‘Please make sure you are using whatever security measures you have in place such as door and window locks, alarms and security lighting and sensors used.

‘Also when leaving your property during the darker nights, leave a light on and curtains closed, even if going out for just a short period.’

Witnesses can call 101 quoting reference 44180462487.
