Police imposed a 24-hour dispersal order in Havant after a bout of antisocial behaviour.

Officers were given extra powers to move people on if they were suspected of being likely to cause trouble.

The order ran until yesterday afternoon.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘Following recent complaints of antisocial behaviour in Havant town centre, District Inspector, Andrew Clinton, has authorised a dispersal order for the town centre within the boundaries of North St, South St, Elmleigh Road, Solent Road, Brockhampton Lane, West St to the junction of Union Road, Park way and New Road.

‘The order, under Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, provides us with temporary additional powers to require people to leave the designated area if they are suspected of being involved in, or likely to become involved in, incidents of antisocial behaviour.’
