A MAN had to be given oxygen after a fire engulfed his flat in a suspicious fire.
The man managed to get out safely after the blaze started in the first-floor bedsit of a property in Catisfield Lane, Fareham.
But he had inhaled so much smoke that paramedics needed to give him oxygen therapy at the scene.
Firefighters were called out at about 12.40am today.
A total of 15 firefighters from Fareham and Hightown fire station tackled the blaze, which took hold of half the flat.
Crews spent more than an hour at the scene putting out the fire, which caused considerable smoke damage to the property.
An investigation has begun as it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately.
