A Gosport man killed after a motorboat collision off the Isle of Wight has tonight been named by police.
Ryan Scott McKinlay, 36, was a passenger on a rigid inflatable boat (Rib) on Friday afternoon when it collided with a larger motorboat, which had been carrying the Rib on the Solent earlier the same day.
Mr McKinlay was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on Friday evening.
All immediate next-of-kin have been informed and his body has been formally identified.
A post-mortem examination to help establish the cause of death will take place in due course.
Hampshire Constabulary said its officers would like to thank all partner agencies and members of the public for their ongoing co-operation and assistance with police enquiries so far.
Anyone with information or who saw the collision in Osborne Bay between 4.45pm and 5pm on Friday should contact police on 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101.
