Ambassadors visit in bid to make Portsmouth '˜global hub'

DIPLOMATS from across the globe were in the city in a bid to boost business.

They visited Land Rover BAR at The Camber in Old Portsmouth on Thursday.

The visit, organised by UK Trade and Investment, hoped to drum up overseas investment in the maritime sector.

Prodrive and Land Rover BAR presented to the gathered diplomats and ambassadors.

Lewis Scott, regional director for the south east at UKTI, said: ‘As part of the successful Exporting is GREAT campaign, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office ambassadors visit showcased what the south east has to offer in terms of international trade and collaboration, and particularly the world-leading maritime sector here in Portsmouth.’

Organisers were hoping to promote Portsmouth as a business hub globally.

Among the ambassadors in attendance were Fiona Clouder, HM Ambassador for Chile; Caron Rohsler, British High Commissioner for Seychelles; Sian MacLeod, ambassador and head of delegation for Vienna; Carolyn Davidson, HM Ambassador for Honduras and John Duncan OBE, governor to the British Virgin Islands.
