Anger as inspector throws out housing plan for Bosham

A VILLAGE could be condemned to another 15 years of '˜derelict and abandoned sites', it has been warned.

Dick Pratt, chairman of Bosham Association, is angry that a government inspector carrying out the examination of the village’s neighbourhood plan has thrown out its proposals for housing.

He said the amendments ‘effectively promoted a housing estate remote from the village heart’.

Part of the plan centred on villagers agreeing where they would site 50 new homes allocated to Bosham over the next 15 years.

Small-scale housing developments were proposed in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

But the inspector, Janet Cheesley, said great weight should be given to conserving the AONB.

She said she also had site specific concerns.

Mrs Cheesley said: ‘The remaining policies, subject to my proposed modifications, will ensure, in the absence of specific housing site allocations, the plan can provide a strong practical framework.’
