COUNCIL workers have been praised after giving a historic market town’s bridge a clean-up.

The bridge at Bishop’s Waltham North Pond was cleaned by Winchester City Council’s Street Care Team.

They used a high-power jetting machine to clean the structure prior to a full inspection.

Winchester council’s Cllr Frank Pearson, portfolio holder for environment, said: ‘People may not even be aware that bridges need to be cleaned and inspected, so this seemed the perfect opportunity to recognise the team’s excellent work.’
