Boris Johnson has resigned as foreign secretary

A Downing Street spokesman said: ‘This afternoon, the Prime Minister accepted the resignation of Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary. ‘His replacement will be announced shortly. The Prime Minister thanks Boris for his work.’

It comes after fellow Conservative MP David Davis resigned as Brexit secretary.

The Prime Minister is hoping to win over Tory Brexiteers after a backlash against her plans for leaving the European Union.
