THIS year will see the nation returning to normal with ‘bustling pubs and heaving high street shops’, attorney general Suella Braverman has today insisted.

The Fareham MP said there was plenty to be optimistic about for 2021, following a year of coronavirus hardship and lockdown loneliness.

Her message comes just days before the rollout of the newly-approved vaccine developed by scientists at the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca.

Mrs Braverman said the new vaccine represented a ‘crucial turning point’ in the global fight against coronavirus, with 100 million doses already on order – enough to vaccinate 50 million people.

‘This is our way out,’ she insisted. ‘While our resolve must not slacken, the approval and subsequent roll-out of the biggest immunisation campaign in history is a momentous achievement – this is a real British success story.

‘While the festive period may have felt very different this year, it has provided an important opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices we have all made to keep our friends, families and loved ones safe during these difficult times.

‘I know everyone in Fareham will be excited by the approval of the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine, and I am optimistic that 2021 will see the return of bustling pubs, heaving high-streets shops and families reunited at last.’
