CONSTRUCTION of 73 homes on the former Gales brewery site in Horndean has begun.

Linden Homes has knocked down parts of the 160-year-old brewery and started its development, a mix of apartments and two, three and four bedroom homes.

The new development will be called The Old Brewery, with the tower remaining.

A doctors’ surgery, care home, a shop and offices are also planned.

The first residents could be moving into the new homes by spring next year.
