CONSERVATIVE election candidate Alan Mak has helped raise hundreds of pounds for a mental health charity.
Mr Mak, standing for Havant in the general election, presented a cheque for £500 to Combat Stress at Langstone Technology Park in Havant.
Over the past six months, Mr Mak held a series of fundraisers and asked supporters to support a worthy cause.
Combat Stress has provided more than 5,900 veterans aged 18 to 97 with treatment programmes.
Mr Mak said: ‘I hope our modest donation will help Combat Stress support local veterans suffering from mental health problems.
‘Our veterans deserve our respect and care, and addressing their mental health needs must be a priority for us all.’
Tim Brawn, director of fundraising and communications for Combat Stress, said: ‘We’re grateful for Alan’s fundraising efforts, and pleased that political leaders like him are highlighting our veterans’ mental health needs in the public policy arena.’
