A MULTICULTURAL centre will celebrate a project’s 10th anniversary.

The Portsmouth Friendship Centre will recognise all the work that the Asylum Seekers Activities project has done at a meeting on Friday.

The event starts at 3.30pm

The project encourages healthy living and offers asylum seekers a leisure card.

It also puts on a range of activities which help to reduce isolation. The Friendship Centre takes in food and clothing donations before giving it to project workers for distribution. Centre manager Clare Dolan said: ‘The Asylum Seekers Activities project has had a real impact on a number of asylum seekers in the area. The project has reached a milestone and has delivered some real success stories over the years. We are delighted to have been involved in supporting this project.

The Portsmouth Friendship Centre is all about understanding and respecting cultural diversity across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.’
