Changes to how waste is binned to roll out across West Sussex

CHANGES in the way residents can dump their rubbish are coming into force.

Eleven household waste sites across West Sussex are changing their opening hours and days as of Saturday.

The revamp will also see the introduction of disposal charges for non-household items such as soil, hard-core, plasterboard and tyres.

There will be no charges for green waste, which includes grass cuttings. But, non-household waste will be charged at £4 per rubble bag

David Barling, county council’s cabinet member for residents’ services, said: ‘With increased demand for other essential services coupled with reduced government funding, as a council we needed to live within our means, and make savings.

‘These changes will help us to make those critical savings, while still maintaining a comprehensive service for residents.’

The move follows a wave of consultation at parish, district and borough levels. For details on all the changes and charges, see www.recyclingforwestsussex.org/changes
