RESIDENTS are being encouraged to have their say on changes to council tax and the council tax reduction scheme.

Chichester District Council is proposing to make minor amendments to the scheme which provides financial support to households on low incomes.

As part of this, and to protect the most vulnerable people from any cuts in funding, the council is also reviewing the current exemptions for long-term empty properties.

Councillor Tony Dignum said: ‘We are proposing some minor changes to the council tax reduction scheme and significant changes to the current council tax scheme, and we need to know if we’ve got it right or whether there are areas that we need to look at again.’
