City's global reputation '˜on the up', report says

PORTSMOUTH'S international reputation as a tourism destination has gone from strength to strength, councillors are to hear.

In the past year, the city has boomed '“ with increased exposure in the likes of China, America and across Europe.

So says a report on Portsmouth and the city's visitor economy that is due to be presented to the council's planning and regeneration chief, Councillor Ben Dowling, next week.

It comes after an increase in the efforts by Portsmouth City Council to promote the city to new audiences and attract lucrative trade deals.

The document outlines the work by the authority between 2017 and 2018 to boost the city's tourism prospects, which included attending trade shows and visits by foreign journalists.
