A COUNCIL’S ruling cabinet has expressed concerns about the authority continuing to foot the bill for CCTV coverage.

Following discussions at Havant Borough Council, a decision over whether the authority should continue paying £154,000 for CCTV has been deferred until the budget-making process starts for next year.

A scrutiny panel has recommended the council should continue paying the bill.

The minutes of the meeting state: ‘Cabinet members expressed concern about the panel’s recommendation that the current CCTV system be retained in the budget for 2016/17, in view of the significant cost implications in the context of the need for the council to achieve £1.4m efficiency savings/additional revenue.’
