A TROPHY that has not been used for decades is making a return.

Gosport Borough Council agreed to use the Gas Works trophy, known as the Gas Company Challenge Cup, for the Gosport Peninsular Charity Pursuit race at this year’s Gosport Marine Festival.

The silver cup was made in 1936 and presented to the council by the Portsmouth and Gosport Gas Company.

It was given to the winners of different challenges until 1985.

At their Policy and Organisation meeting, the council agreed to start reusing this trophy instead of buying a new one.
