A DAD is pleased a council responded to his complaints about a lack of disabled play equipment in playgrounds.

Steve Bonnick, from Segensworth, wrote to Fareham Borough Council after seeing proposals for a new play area in Abshot Road, Fareham, had no facilities for children with disabilities.

The 48-year-old raised the issue and, after an article appeared in The News, the council has been in touch with Steve to look at alternatives.

Steve, whose son Charlie has cerebral palsy, said: ‘Since the article appeared in the paper, I have had a chat with the council which has said it will look into the problems.

‘But they also said other sites will now be considered, even a couple of new sites that are in the pipeline.

‘I feel highlighting this issue will lead to a positive outcome.’

The design for the Abshot Road playground was put forward for a public consultation in April.
