A DATE has been set for a meeting to decide whether a discount supermarket can open in Portchester.

Lidl has applied for planning permission to turn the former Homewood Interiors store on Castle Trading Estate, in Southampton Road, into a supermarket.

The application has attracted hundreds of letters of support and Fareham Borough Council will hold a special meeting at Ferneham Hall in Osborn Road, Fareham, to accommodate any members of the public who wish to be present.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23 at 10am.
