Developer appeals decision to reject 180 homes on Warsash countryside

DEVELOPERS have appealed a council's decision to refuse plans for 180 homes on the countryside.

Foreman Homes Ltd had previously submitted plans to Fareham Borough Council for the estate on land to the east of Brook Lane, Warsash.

Councillors on the local authority’s planning committee subsequently threw the proposals out back in January stating that they would not allow building on the countryside and that the application was contrary to the Local Plan.

In response to the decision, the developers have now launched an appeal to a planning inspector, calling for the decision to be overturned.

The council revealed yesterday that the appeal had been made which means a public inquiry will be held to discuss the appeal.

It will follow an appeal by Persimmon Homes against plans for 120 homes on fields off Cranleigh Road in Portchester which is due to be heard next month.

At the time that Foreman’s application was rejected, another developer Taylor Wimpey also had plans for an 85-home estate on nearby land off Brook Lane also rejected.

The appeal comes as Bargate Homes, another developer unveiled plans for 150 homes on the same site.
